Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the founder of PhosAgro, head of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers Andrey Guryev. During the meeting, Mr. Guryev said that Russia has overtaken the United States in the production of mineral fertilizers.
“Over the past ten years, we have increased production by 40% – up to 55 million tons – of all types of fertilizers. We have overtaken the United States, India in production and today we are the largest producer of mineral fertilizers in the world after China,” said Andrey Guryev (quoted from site Kremlin).
Vladimir Putin noted that over the past ten years Russia has become one of the leading countries in the production of fertilizers and at the moment fully meets its own needs.
British newspaper in January Financial Times reported that, despite the decline in sales and export sanctions, in the first ten months of 2022, fertilizer supplies brought the Russian budget $16.7 billion (70% more than in the same period last year, with sales falling by 10%).
