Formula 1 CEO vows not to race in Russia

Formula 1 Executive Director Stefano Domenicali said that the American company Liberty Media, whose “daughter” is responsible for the promotion of the championship, is no longer discussing the holding of the Grand Prix in Sochi. This was announced by Mr. Domenicali to Sport Bild.
The Russian Grand Prix is a very lucrative event for Formula 1, as the entry fee that promoters pay in Sochi is extremely high, the newspaper notes.
“But there are things that are non-negotiable. We will no longer negotiate with them. There will be no more races, ”said the executive director of Formula 1 (translation from GP Blog). The position of Liberty Media is connected with the military operation in Ukraine.
The Russian Grand Prix is a Formula 1 round that has been held in Russia at the Sochi Autodrom since 2014. In 2017, the contract to host the Russian leg was extended until 2025.
