Former vice-governor of St. Petersburg Vladimir Lavlentsev was detained on suspicion of multibillion-dollar fraud after searches in Moscow, the publication reported. Fontanka with reference to sources.
Fontanka notes that the criminal case, in which Vladimir Lavlentsev appears, was initiated under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to the security forces, the former vice-governor could illegally receive more than 3 billion rubles.
The former official was detained for 72 hours, and the judicial authorities have not yet received a petition for a preventive measure.
Vladimir Lavlentsev served as Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg for housing and communal services from May 2013 to October 2014. In the city government, he oversaw issues of urban economy, housing policy, housing and communal services, landscaping and energy. He was also responsible for the construction of the SKA-Arena hockey stadium in St. Petersburg (it is the home arena of the St. Petersburg hockey club SKA playing in the KHL).
