Former USSR Prime Minister Ryzhkov surrendered his senatorial mandate ahead of schedule

The powers of the former Prime Minister of the USSR, 94-year-old Nikolai Ryzhkov as a senator were prematurely terminated at the end of September, it is reported “Vedomosti”.
Ryzhkov was the oldest senator and the last living head of the USSR government. He has represented the Belgorod region in the upper house since 2003.
From 1985 to 1991, Ryzhkov served as Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. He left his position after suffering a heart attack. Afterwards, from 1995 to 2003, he was a State Duma deputy, then moved to the Federation Council.
