According to the results of nine months of this year, from January to September, the birth rate in Russia decreased by 6.5%. This was announced by State Duma deputy (United Russia) and former children’s ombudsman Anna Kuznetsova in an appeal to All-Russian Women’s Forum.
Mrs. Kuznetsova also noted that out of ten family unions, seven now end in divorce. According to her, the well-being of the country should be strong families with many children. “This is what makes us strong,” said the State Duma deputy (quoted from TASS). According to Anna Kuznetsova, the special demographic group is now preparing various projects. Among other things, measures to support families with children will be improved, the authorities also support young families, Ms. Kuznetsova said. Among those ideas that have already been implemented are multifunctional family centers.
In May, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova spokethat the rate of decline in the birth rate in Russia for two years was able to slow down by 1.51%. The number of births of third and subsequent children increased by 6.6%, she also said.
To the State Duma in September was introduced a bill to ban the spread of childfree ideas to children. The authors of the bill said that the ideas of “childfree” create “circumstances for the depopulation of the population.” Under the current conditions, propaganda of conscious childlessness leads to the degradation of public institutions, the authors of the document believe.
Meanwhile, the decline in the birth rate reduced the number of new participants in the maternity capital program – the number of its recipients decreased by 12.6%.
