Former mayor of Krasnodar Alekseenko confirmed a business trip to Ukraine

On August 18, the City Duma of Krasnodar accepted the resignation of the mayor of the city, Andrei Alekseenko. During the meeting, Kommersant’s information was confirmed that in the near future he would head the pro-Russian government of the Kharkov region of Ukraine.
Andrei Alekseenko wrote a statement of his own free will, having worked as mayor for only nine months of a five-year term. 38 deputies present at the meeting accepted their resignations unanimously.
“This is not because we want, Andrei Anatolyevich, to release you. There is your application, we make a decision,” said Vera Galushko, chairman of the City Duma, after the vote.
She further confirmed that Andrey Alekseenko’s new place of work is in Ukraine. In her opinion, being there is “a duty of a man, a duty of a Russian peasant.”
First Vice Governor Igor Galas also spoke about the ex-mayor’s business trip to the territories of Ukraine controlled by Russian troops. “It’s probably not a secret anymore,” said the deputy head of the region.
Then Andrei Alekseenko himself spoke to the deputies. He stated that people living in the Kharkiv region need help. The former mayor explained that he was not saying goodbye to the city, and the sponsorship of Krasnodar in the Kharkov region would continue.
