Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is in intensive care, according to Ajax Amsterdam.
The 52-year-old athlete is in a stable condition. On Friday, he suffered a brain hemorrhage. Other details are not given.
According to media reports, van der Sar was on vacation in Croatia, where he suffered a stroke. Now he is in one of the hospitals in Split.
As a player in Ajax, van der Sar became the champion of the Netherlands four times, won the country’s Cup and Super Cup, UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup 3 times, won the Champions League.
At Manchester United, the goalkeeper won the Champions League and the Club World Cup, won the English Championship 4 times, took the English League Cup twice, won the FA Super Cup 3 times.
The goalkeeper also played for the Italian Juventus and the English Fulham. For the Dutch national team, he twice became the bronze medalist of the European Championship.
Van der Sar resigned as Ajax CEO on May 30.
