Journalist, diplomat, former editor-in-chief of the Sovinformburo Enver Mammadov has died at the age of 101.
Enver Nazimovich Mammadov celebrated his jubilee birthday on August 15. Before the memorable date, the journalist was presented to the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
Mammadov was an exemplary boss, colleagues called him the “Prince of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting” of the USSR.
He also took part in the Great Patriotic War, but was wounded and sent home in 1942.
Then the diplomat worked in the People’s Commissariat for Foreign Affairs of the Soviet Union and participated in the Nuremberg trials as deputy head of the translation agency.
Until 1956, he was the editor-in-chief of the main editorial office of the Radio Committee.
