Former CSKA basketball captain Kurbanov disqualified for cocaine

Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) for three months disqualified CSKA basketball player Nikita Kurbanov. Cocaine was found in his doping test.
The period of temporary suspension will be counted towards the period of disqualification – from October 20, 2023. The disqualification will end on January 19. Kurbanov suspended his career on October 27. CSKA reported that he made the decision for personal reasons.
37-year-old Nikita Kurbanov is a three-time winner of the Euroleague (2006, 2016, 2019) and a seven-time winner of the VTB United League (2010, 2012, 2016-2019, 2021). From 2002–2012 and from 2015 he played for CSKA. He also played for UNICS Kazan, Spartak St. Petersburg and Lokomotiv-Kuban Krasnodar. Master of Sports of Russia, awarded the Order of Honor.
