Former coach of the Kristall volleyball team Yuri Loktev died in Voronezh

After a serious and long illness, the former head coach of the Voronezh volleyball team “Crystal” Yuri Loktev died. Master of Sports of the USSR and Honored Trainer of the Russian Federation passed away at the age of 75. This was reported by the press service of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VFV).
Yuri Loktev was part of the headquarters of the CSKA men’s volleyball team. Together with Yuri Chesnokov and Vladimir Kondra, he trained a whole galaxy of outstanding athletes – Vladimir Alekno, Andrei Gorbenko, Yuri Marichev, Andrei Voronkov, Igor Kurnosov.
From February 2015 to March 2017, Yuri Loktev headed the Voronezh Kristall.
“His loss leaves a huge void in the hearts of all who knew and appreciated him. “We will remember Yuri Gennadievich as an outstanding coach, a man with a great love for sports and an immeasurable contribution to the development of volleyball,” the federation commented.
