Chinese Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs, former Chinese Ambassador to Moscow Li Hui will visit Ukraine, Russia, Poland, France and Germany from May 15, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
“Li Hui will travel to Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany and Russia to discuss a political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis with each of these parties,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said (quote according to TASS).
Earlier, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reported that Foreign Minister Qin Gang will travel to France, Norway and Germany from May 8 to 12 at the invitation of the foreign ministers of these countries. Then the official representative of the department did not disclose the details of these trips.
At the end of April, the former Chinese Ambassador to Russia headed Chinese delegation to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.
April 26 Chinese President Xi Jinping spent telephone conversation with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. During the conversation, the Chinese leader noted that Beijing’s position on the conflict in Ukraine is “to promote reconciliation and negotiations.” He emphasized that dialogue and negotiations are the only way out of the crisis.
On February 24, on the anniversary of the start of the special operation, China presented its plan to exit the Ukrainian conflict, which includes 12 points, including respect for the sovereignty of all countries, the cessation of hostilities, the start of peace negotiations, etc. Zelensky said that China’s proposal is more like “voicing thoughts” rather than on a peaceful plane. He stressed that such an initiative is unrealizable without a clause on the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.
