Ex-President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro on social networks said that the actions of his supporters, who had previously defeated the Planalto Palace, as well as the buildings of the Supreme Court and Congress, go beyond democracy.
According to him, the protesters violated the law in force in the country by their actions.
“I believe that peaceful demonstrations that take place in a legal form are part of democracy. In turn, the seizures of government buildings and robberies that took place today, as well as those practiced by the left in 2013 and 2017, do not fall under this rule,” Bolsonaro said.
He specified that throughout his time as President of Brazil, he “defended and respected the laws, sacred freedom and democracy, and adhered to the Constitution.”
Recall that on January 8, supporters of the ex-president seized the building of the Congress of Brazil, located in the country’s capital. Among other things, protesters against the results of the presidential elections broke into the territory of the presidential residence and the building of the Supreme Court.
