Foreign Policy: US doubles arms sales due to Ukraine conflict
[ad_1]
Events in Ukraine led to an almost two-fold increase in the number and value of US companies’ contracts for arms sales to NATO countries. Columnist Robbie Gramer writes about this in an article for Foreign Policy.
Arms sales have increased as the conflict in Ukraine has forced Europe to think about strengthening its defense capabilities. In 2021, the U.S. approved 14 major deals worth about $15.5 billion, and in 2022 the number of contracts rose to 24 and their value to $28 billion. And this is only the cost and number of contracts with the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Thus, the United States was able to make good money on the Ukrainian crisis. They also significantly strengthened their positions in the European arms market.
