Foreign Ministry: Russia warned Japan about the consequences of transferring Patriot missiles to Kyiv

Moscow warned Japan about the possible consequences of the transfer of missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to the United States, which could subsequently be transferred to Kyiv. Information about this was disseminated by the acting director of the third department for Asia of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Zhestky, RIA Novosti reports.
He recalled that in December 2023, the administration of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida achieved a change in the rules for the export of military equipment to transfer ammunition for anti-aircraft missile systems to Washington.
“We clearly warned the Japanese side through our ambassador in Moscow Muto that we have no doubt about who the final recipient of such a decision will be – the Kyiv regime,” the diplomat emphasized.
He noted that Russia would view such actions by Tokyo as support for the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that Japan’s transfer of American anti-aircraft missile systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) would entail serious consequences.
