Foreign Ministry denied Ukraine’s accusations of the destruction of the cathedral in Odessa

Kiev has no right to appeal to legality, and the damage to the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odessa is on the conscience of the Ukrainian authorities and is connected with the work of the air defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Thus, she answered the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba. Earlier today, the minister on his Twitter accused Russia of being allegedly involved in the damage to the cathedral.

“Firstly, after what the Kiev regime has done with dozens of Orthodox churches, with the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, relics, monuments and memorials, it has no right to appeal to legality,” – wrote Zakharov in his Telegram channel.

According to her, the damage to the Transfiguration Cathedral “is also on the conscience of the Kyiv regime and the illiterate operators of air defense systems, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine deliberately place in residential areas.” Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also stated that the cause of the destruction could be the work of air defense.

The Ministry of Defense rejected Kyiv’s accusations of attacking the temple of Odessa. They said that Russian forces are planning strikes with precision-guided weapons “based on information that has been carefully verified and confirmed through several channels,” and the defeat of civilians, as well as objects of cultural and historical heritage, is ruled out.
