Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told Interfax that a high ultraviolet radiation index is expected in the Central Federal District, as well as in a number of regions of the Southern Federal District, the North Caucasus, the Urals and the Volga region.
In the Central Federal District and the Moscow Region, the index is 5-6 units, and in the southern regions of the Central Federal District – from 6 to 7 units.
In the mountainous regions of the republics of the North Caucasus, the UV index will reach up to 9 units.
According to the recommendations of experts, with a UV index of 3 to 7, it is recommended to stay in the shade during the midday hours, wear long-sleeved clothing and a hat, and use sunscreen.
If the index is above 8, increased protection is required: at noon, you need to be indoors, be sure to wear long-sleeved clothing, a hat and use sunscreen.
