Forecaster Tishkovets predicted warm autumn and winter – Kommersant

A warm and humid winter with unstable weather is expected in Moscow, Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, said. In general, in the autumn-winter season in most regions of Russia the temperature will be 1-3°C above the norm.

According to the weatherman, in terms of climate, the upcoming winter will be warmer than autumn. “Here, the excess above the norm can reach an average of 2-4°C, at the end – 3-5°C warmer than the norm, but winter will start on schedule in November,” he added (quoted by RIA Novosti).

Yevgeny Tishkovets also noted that the autumn-winter season in the capital region will be warmer than the norm, but will be accompanied by frosts, thaws, slush, and freezing rains. “Winter is very different, unstable, but warm. I think that in terms of precipitation, we will be within the normal range for most of the period, with snow there may be an excess of 15-20%. Warm and humid winter,” he said. The specialist also predicted “a very powerful start to spring.”

“Despite the fact that we are entering the cold autumn-winter season, it will be more significant in terms of positive temperature deviation from the norm than the past warm period,” Mr. Tishkovets concluded.

The average temperature in the winter of 2022/2023 was 1.2°C above the climatic norm. In February, the temperature in the capital was 1.9°С above the norm, in January — 1.5°С. The amount of precipitation that fell in Moscow during the winter period also exceeded the norm – 117% of the prescribed.
