Forecast of experts: the menu of the future will be formed by smart toilets

“I need to eat 400 calories! Protein, fiber and a minimum of carbohydrates! Today, such a phrase is more like the reasoning of a healthy lifestyle person thinking about his dinner, but tomorrow – or the day after tomorrow? – can become a team for artificial intelligence. Experts in the field of gastronomy, who have the courage to make predictions, are sure that this approach will prevail in ready-made food delivery services in 15-20 years, and not the search for “something with shrimp”. Perhaps our children will treat food like a constructor: no gourmet food, but only the optimal set of KBJU.

In the foreseeable future, the number of people who strictly adhere to diets will grow – this was the conclusion of the experts of one of the food delivery services, who made a forecast for 2040. In their opinion, the turnover in the “health and wellness” market will only grow, so the main requirement for food will not be taste, but usefulness.

The first signs of such a trend have already flown for a long time, now the question is only in scale. Just look at the offers of ready-made food delivery services that promise customers a well-thought-out balanced diet for a week. It is most often focused on losing weight, and the proposal specifies: they say, do you need 1500, 2000 or 2500 calories per day? The client only needs to choose and say the stop words: they say, whatever, dear invisible cook, but I will not eat the pumpkin in any form, do not persuade!

It is assumed that devices with artificial intelligence will recommend food (of the appropriate composition and caloric content) to consumers: “smart” watches, scales, and even, maybe, smart toilets. The algorithm is simple: assess the state of health – and advise what to eat for the benefit of the body.

This idea is also not new: today, “smart scales” are widely used to show body composition, i.e. percentage of fat and muscle mass. Yes, and applications that allow you to control fatigue, day and sleep, as well as monitor the female cycle or even the frequency of contractions during childbirth, have long been invented. Then it’s just a matter of distribution: the day after tomorrow, maybe you’ll start getting pop-up notifications like “You just went up the stairs. It’s time for an oatmeal bar and apple juice. Deliver?”

Today, such an approach to the diet is the lot of those who are losing weight, adherents of a healthy lifestyle, or simply those who absolutely do not care what and how to eat (but still I would like not sandwiches). The day after tomorrow, this attitude may become widespread.

Recall the example of fitness clubs – once only enthusiastic athletes and, again, losing weight citizens went there. Yes, at least mobile phones: how long ago was 1997 in the yard, when a cell phone was a sign of such chic? And look at us now.

As nutritionist Irina Pisareva noted in an interview with an MK correspondent, not all ready-made food delivery services are equally good, and they should also be treated critically:

— Of course, the very existence of such a service is very helpful for those who are busy or have limited time. If you do not have time to cook yourself, it is convenient when you only need to get and heat up the prepared food. And I know that for many it really helps to lose weight, disciplines. However, you need to understand: there are different services – there are good ones, but there are not very good ones.

Sometimes I see that there are too many carbohydrates in ready-made sets – the calorie content is normal, but the ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates is not very good. For example, porridge for breakfast, some pancakes for an afternoon snack… Why? Because they save on expensive healthy products: on meat, for example, avocados, nuts, fish. So I would advise you to carefully study what is offered to you and at what price. The same applies to smart gadgets for health and harmony. For example, there are applications that even remind you of the need to drink water on a schedule. For some this is just right, but for others it is annoying.

The next possible trend is a return to simplicity. In 15 years, humanity will most likely get tired of perceiving food as entertainment, therefore, complex dishes will become a thing of the past.

A burger covered in edible gold, shrimp meat dumplings with stracciatella and pickled peaches, a fondant-filled cake in the shape of a can of condensed milk – all this will be perceived as silly pastimes of the ancestors.

The gastronomic road goes towards local and seasonal products, simple, understandable food, which does not require much harm to the environment (the trend towards environmental care is also growing!). If you need to save the environment, then the trend to eat raw food will not be long in coming – so as not to waste electricity, heat and gas on their preparation.

According to experts from the World Environmental Forum, 65% of consumers would like to eat without harming the environment. Food companies are slowly following the trend, but supply chains stretching for thousands of miles prevent this. Therefore, by 2040, eating seasonal products produced within a radius of 150-200 km may become a sustainable trend. Well, there it’s not far from returning to subsistence farming: he raised it himself – he ate it himself, and there was no transportation.

The next question is: will all the cultures familiar to us continue to grow safely? There are two threats now: climate change (global warming) and overpopulation. The first reason is already making itself felt – for example, last year in Uzbekistan they faced crop problems due to abnormal frosts in winter and, accordingly, sweltering heat in summer. In the future, such problems will only increase – now, for example, the whole of southern Europe is melting from the heat of 38-43 degrees, and this is far from good for all vegetables and fruits.
