Ford has patented an autopilot that returns the car for an overdue loan

Ford company patented technologies that provide various ways to deal with non-payment on loans for a car. Techniques include blocking certain functions, such as the GPS or air conditioning, or turning on an unpleasant sound every time the car is entered. One of the points of the patent provides for the creation of an autopilot that, in case of non-payment, can take the car to the parking lot of a debt collection company or to a landfill.
Another option is to block the car as a whole, in which the owner will not be able to drive it until he makes a payment on the loan.
Ford filed an application with the US Patent Office back in 2021 and it has now been approved. Experts note that the filing of a patent does not mean the real implementation of such technologies. In addition, in order to use such an autopilot, advanced autonomous driving systems must first appear and be approved by regulators.
