Force majeure with graduation angered parents: some saved up for a year for a holiday

On June 23, graduation celebrations started in Russia. Someone was lucky, and their holiday managed to take place. In Moscow, too, someone has already taken a walk that night. And yet the main “graduation” date was set for today, June 24th. But in the morning it became known about force majeure, as a result of which mass events, including graduation activities, were canceled in Moscow, the Moscow region, Tula, Tver, Rostov, Voronezh and other regions. In fact, it was postponed a week later.

Schools in the capital today sent the same announcement to parents: “Dear parents, as you already know, today a counter-terrorist operation regime has been introduced in Moscow and previously announced mass events have been cancelled. We would like to inform you that the solemn ceremonies of presenting certificates at schools, graduation parties, as well as the citywide celebration of graduates scheduled for today, June 24, will not take place in Gorky Park. The authorities have decided to postpone all events for a week later: they will be held next Saturday, July 1, at the same time. Hope for your understanding!”.

The director of one of the Moscow schools told MK:

Everything has been postponed for a week at all schools. Today, no one is holding anything, no activities. Even in restaurants, graduates will not walk.

“Restaurants are booked in advance, all events and transport are paid in advance. Flowers, cakes – ordered and paid for. They are definitely gone now. Who will pay the parents damages? Many have planned rest after graduation…”, messages come from frustrated moms and dads.

“Will the cafes go forward? they worry. “Everything is booked, paid for, groceries purchased.”

“My son’s class managed to take a walk tonight at the yacht club,” Muscovite Nina told MK. – The presentation of certificates at school was scheduled for today at 18:00. So far, nothing is known about the cancellation of the delivery of certificates, now a message has come from the school principal: “There is no information about the issuance of certificates yet.”

“My sister was supposed to have a graduation today, in a restaurant, she planned a trip to the hairdresser and makeup artist, her mood is terrible, she is upset,” another Muscovite told us.

– We were told this news from the school at 11 o’clock, – says the mother of another graduate. – Although I already assumed it from 10 in the morning. We were supposed to celebrate just in Gorky Park. There won’t even be any certificates. The daughter was upset, there was an appropriate mood, and suddenly everything is transferred!

Meanwhile, there was a flurry of indignation of parents about the fact that the issuance of certificates was canceled, numerous messages on social networks testify to this.

“On what basis? one of the mothers wonders. – We are talking about festive mass events. Parents can legally demand the issuance of a certificate. Moreover, the admission of documents to universities has already begun! “Is it really impossible to organize the issuance of certificates in working mode?” parents are surprised.

“It’s not the presentation ceremony that worries me more, but the fact that a certificate is needed in order to apply to a university, and this transfer of graduation and the process of consideration by the selection committee is also postponed,” Ivan, the graduate’s father, worries.

“MK” talked with graduates from other cities. For example, Katya, who graduated from a lyceum in Ryazan (where nothing was officially canceled), told MK that they would have graduation on two dates: on June 24, a solemn presentation of certificates in the theater would take place, and on July 1, a banquet with competitions in a restaurant. The girl said that the presentation of certificates will take place, everything is fine. Otherwise, it would be a pity for the money: I rented her class for 30,000 rubles. per person, the dress cost 19,000 rubles, plus jewelry and shoes – another 7,000 rubles.

– I still can’t believe it! Time at school has passed very quickly, there is some fear and excitement about what will happen next …

We add that Katya glorified her lyceum during the Unified State Exam by earning the highest score for the Unified State Examination in literature. She is going to enter either Ryazan University (RSU named after S.A. Yesenin), or St. Petersburg University; perhaps for teaching a foreign language or literature with Russian.

Daniil’s family from Samara also dropped 30,000 rubles for graduation (graduations were not canceled in their region). “But it’s worth it! he assured us. – This is a very cool, rich restaurant! We were told at the beginning of the year where the graduation would be, so my parents saved up for it for a year … First we are going to a photo shoot in nature, then we will go to a restaurant where there will be a DJ and a presenter, and I am sure it will be fun!

By the way, SuperJob cited the following data: on average in Russia, a dress for an eleventh-grader cost parents 14,500 rubles, and a suit for a boy – 16,500 rubles.

… Graduates living in the border areas will be deprived of any celebrations at all. Residents of the Belgorod Region, for example, have this to say about today’s events: “Our children have been studying remotely for the second year already, there are no last calls, no graduations, and hundreds live in temporary accommodation centers … And here in Moscow, graduations were postponed for a week, so immediately the poor children! The Belgorod region and the Kursk region are also Russia, just like the Muscovites…”.

We recently wrote about the smallest girl in Russia, Polina Skorik, whose height is only 80 cm. Her mother then said that her daughter was rehearsing a waltz to dance it with the boy at the graduation, which is scheduled for June 24. But Polina and her family live in the border village of Glushkovo in the Kursk region, which is under shelling.

– Due to the shelling of the village, of course, graduation was canceled, – Polina’s mother Natalya Skorik told us. Many children have left the village. Everyone is very upset, outfits were bought, hairstyles and makeup were ordered … It turns out that everything is in vain ?? No! We don’t just give up. And we, the parents, decided to hold a holiday 120 km from our village in Kursk. And it will happen no matter what. It will take place without a solemn part, that is, without teachers, but it will take place! Of all the graduates, only two families refused to participate in the event. There will be 36 children and their parents, a total of 95 people.

– How will parents and children get to Kursk? All together, organized?

– Differently. For example, we rented an apartment for a few days. Some have relatives, friends. And those who stayed in the village will go by minibus, the journey takes two hours. The holiday will be held in a restaurant – with a DJ, presenter. And a waltz, if space permits, the children will dance …
