For the first time, the World Polyathlon Championship will be held in Kaluga. Governor Vladislav Shapsha spoke about this on Wednesday, September 7, in his telegram channel.
“For the first time, Kaluga is hosting the World Polyathlon Championships. 150 athletes from Russia, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Belarus, as well as Cameroon, Tunisia, Morocco and India will take part in the World Cup,” Shapsha said.
The competition will take place from 12 to 16 September at three venues in Kaluga: the Tsentralny Sports Palace, the Yunost Stadium, and the Mnogoborets sports school.
The polyathlon began with the all-around of the TRP complex.
“The 1973 RSFSR Championship was held in Kaluga. The Kaluga region is among those regions where the traditions of this type of all-around have been preserved and are now actively developing.” – the head of the region notes.
Currently, polyathlon is not included in the number of Olympic sports, but is popular in many countries of the world.
Polyathlon is a sport that includes several types of all-around sports.
