Folk signs: October 30 – time to change wheels

October 30 in the folk calendar – Hosea Kolesnik. On this day in Russia, the wheels were usually removed from the carts, put in order, lubricated and put away for storage until spring.
It is also time for modern drivers to think about replacing summer tires with winter ones – so the traffic police recommended not to delay this.
Even on Hosea Kolesnik, they tried to do three good deeds: to help someone in business, to take care of the weak, to give alms. They believed that then it would be possible to receive the help of higher powers three times in difficult periods of life, which, however, would not be for a long time.
Linen, mattresses, blankets and pillows tried to endure to ventilate. It was believed that on this day the wind would drive out everything bad from them.
There was also a belief that today you can get some very important information that will tell you how to act correctly in the future – and it could come both from the outside and in the form of deja vu.
Among the prohibitions that existed on that day, the main ones were: you can’t look at the sky when leaving the house – it will send trouble, you can’t boast of success – a black streak will begin in life, you can’t borrow money – it will be difficult to repay.
They also tried to make strangers touch their hair and house keys – they believed that in this way people could convey their troubles and misfortunes.
Natural signs on October 30 are as follows:
– if the wheel breaks – great difficulties await in life;
– if the pigeons hid under the roof – to bad weather;
– if the fish in the aquarium jump over the water – wait for bad weather;
– if the dog is not clear why howls – to the strengthening of the wind;
– if the cat sleeps all day, it will be warm.
