Folk omens April 6: chaffinch sings

April 6 in the folk calendar is called Artemon – deri snake. It is connected with the fact that by this time it is no longer possible to ride a sleigh – the snow has melted almost everywhere, and anyone who decides to ride a sleigh will simply peel off the runners.

Christians on this day were in a hurry to do all the necessary housework, because the Annunciation is celebrated the next day and nothing can be done. Also in the old days, on this day, evil spirits were driven out of the yard – for this, bonfires were lit in the yards and they went around the house three times with prayers.

The evening was supposed to be spent with the family. At dinner, they remembered the relatives and friends who left this world, asked them for help and protection from various troubles. It was believed that if this was not done, misfortune would appear, even if nothing foreshadowed it.

According to folk signs, on this day you can not knit and tie any knots – to interfere with the achievement of the goal. You can’t plan things, think about profits and count money – to big financial losses. You can not quarrel, swear and use foul language, otherwise you can invite trouble on yourself.

Folk signs on April 6 are as follows:

– the lark sings – to heat, and the chaffinch – to frost;

– if the day is hot, frosts will soon hit;

– if all the snow has melted – you can no longer be afraid of snowfalls;

– if the water in the river has increased and become cloudy, the fish will not peck.

Dreams that will be dreamed on the night of April 7 cannot be told to anyone, otherwise they will not come true.
