Florida governor bans children from having social media accounts

The Governor of the US state of Florida, Ron Desantis, announced on his official website that he would introduce a ban on registering accounts on social networks for children under 14 years of age.

As for teenagers aged 14–15 years, they will be able to register on social networks, but only with the consent of their parents or legal guardians.

“Social networks harm children in many ways. The law will give parents more opportunities to protect them,” DeSantis explained his initiative.
