In four regions of the Far Eastern and Siberian Federal Districts of Russia, water is expected to reach the floodplains and flood the area due to heavy precipitation. This was reported at the All-Russian Research Institute for Civil Defense and Emergencies (VNII GOChS).
“Precipitation can cause a rise in water levels in small rivers and flooding of low-floodplain areas,” the institute said (citation from “RIA News”).
Flooding is expected in the south of the Trans-Baikal Territory and the Republic of Buryatia, in certain areas and lowlands of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In the Amur Region, the unstable nature of the weather will continue with rains of varying intensity.
