The crews of the balloons, which planned to take to the skies in the Elbrus region this Sunday, December 18, postponed the launch due to bad weather. This was announced by the mayor of Kislovodsk Evgeny Moiseev.
The organizers of the action intended to fly over Elbrus towards the resort town of Kislovodsk on Kavminvody. It was supposed to be a massive balloon flight over Elbrus, the first of its kind in the history of Russian aeronautics. Due to weather conditions, namely, due to the wind, the event was postponed to next week.
It was planned that five balloons would rise into the sky in the Elbrus region, but the weather on Elbrus is unpredictable, the mayor of Kislovodsk noted. “Despite the fact that the forecast was calm, at the launch site there was a wind of more than nine meters per second. We made several attempts to raise balloons,” the mayor said.
According to him, balloonists decided not to risk it. Moreover, “there were amateurs in the crews.” The exact date of the flight over Elbrus is promised to be announced later.
