21 schools in Buryatia are undergoing major repairs this year. As part of the federal program, both educational institutions in Ulan-Ude and small rural schools are being renovated.

In 2022, as part of the program for the overhaul of buildings of educational organizations, work will be carried out in 4 schools in the city of Ulan-Ude and 17 schools in the regions of the Republic of Buryatia.

So, the Balakta elementary school-kindergarten got into the overhaul program this year. The reconstruction project provides for equipping the building with new means of education and training: replacement of textbooks, furniture and educational equipment. In addition to the usual blackboards, interactive ones also appear.

According to the director of the Balakta elementary school, Zhargalma Khumayeva, the kindergarten building, built in the 70s, has never been subjected to major repairs. Now the roof, porches, facade have been repaired, entrance doors have been replaced, new blind areas have been made. There were some surprises:

“When the floors were opened, it turned out that the floor beams were rotten, so they were replaced with new ones, the floors were covered with linoleum,” the school director said.

In addition, the catering unit was repaired at the educational institution and work was done to repair the central heating system with the replacement of heating radiators and pipes. The water supply and sewerage system has been updated. At the entrance to the school building there are ramps for students with limited mobility.

Moreover, the builders have made every effort to make the space comfortable and safe. New cubicles were installed in the toilet rooms, toilet bowls, sinks were installed, the entrance area was re-equipped – hangers, poufs, sofas were replaced.

– When the renovation was going on, I was very worried, worried about how everything would be done, how they would do it, whether we would have time to repair it on time, I even forgot about my house, children, I was constantly at school and controlled the progress of the repair work. The parents and the parent council also provided great help, suggesting what else could be done for our school. Balakta residents still do not believe that a completely new school has appeared, – Zhargalma Khumaeva admitted.

A similar front of work unfolded in the Baratuy secondary school. According to school director Boris Galdanov, the overhaul project included the replacement of the roof – from slate to metal tiles, ceiling ceilings, plastering of walls, replacement of ceiling beams, replacement of floor beams, replacement of windows – wooden ones were changed to double-glazed windows. All offices have been plastered. Conducted electricity, replacing all the wires and lighting lamps in the offices. Replaced the heating system, automatic fire alarm system. The old plank ceiling sheathing was removed and replaced with plywood.

The most difficult thing, perhaps, the builders had with the repair of the Shulutovskaya primary school-kindergarten. The building with a 60-year history is not typical, it was built using folk methods.

The walls are made of tuff blocks, the floors are wooden, the load-bearing structures of the floor are also made of wood. The old building is designed for 30 students in grades 1-4 and for one group of 22 children of different ages. Almost everything in the building had to be changed: there were no drains or blind areas on the roof, so rainwater flowed under the building itself. In some places the floors of the building sagged, there was a danger that they could fail. In the corridor of the kindergarten, a bent beam had to be propped up. The window frames were wooden, the vents did not close completely. But the main problem is heating. An old home-made boiler built in 1985 and 5 brick ovens were responsible for heating the school. For several months of repair work, the builders managed to change the appearance and “stuffing” of the building beyond recognition.
