The Tecno brand introduced its first folding smartphone Phantom V Fold on the Russian market. In fact, consumer choice within the form factor has expanded. But if we talk about official deliveries without taking into account stocks, then this is suddenly the only folding device in the domestic space like a booklet.
I managed to get acquainted with the novelty, and the first impressions are quite pleasant. The creators did a great job on the ergonomics of the device. Phantom V Fold displays are flagship-large: the external diagonal is 6.4 inches, the folding screen already reaches 7.9 inches. At the same time, both in the folded and unfolded form, the smartphone is still comfortable to hold, and the gadget can be expanded with one hand. At the same time, accidental opening is prevented by magnets.
The coating of the back wall of the case, imitating some fibers, like any design solution, can be considered tasteful, but it noticeably distinguishes the Tecno models. And for the flagship device, in fact, demonstrating the technological power of the company, it is important to be noticeable. What can not be said about the vertical fold of the flexible display: visually and tactilely you barely feel it. Great engineering work from the creators of the Phantom V Fold.
The reliability of its hinge mechanism, which, by the way, reduces the gap between the parts of a large display when folded to almost zero, was evaluated in Tecno in specific numbers. The vendor guarantees 200,000 unfoldings. For a more impressive effect, this figure was converted into 10 years of work.
The flexible display is protected by flexible Schott UTG glass, which has an even longer resource – 300 thousand. The outer screen of the Phantom V Fold protects Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The manufacturer did not spare the components and supplied the new product with a MediaTek processor – Dimensity 9000+, the only package for the Russian market of 12 GB + 512 GB of RAM and storage, a 5000 mAh battery with support for 45 W fast charging, and five cameras. Display performance is also on top. All this works under Android with HiOS 13 Fold proprietary shell. How exactly, I will understand during the testing of the model.
