Finnish nuclear power plant Olkiluoto 3 temporarily stopped operating on Sunday evening due to a fault in the turbine unit, plant operator Teollisuuden Voima said.
“The cause of the malfunction is currently being investigated. We will provide additional information once we know when the nuclear power plant will return to operation,” the operator reports.
Olkiluoto NPP is located in Western Finland on the shores of the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea, on the Olkiluoto Peninsula. The plant’s three operating reactors provide about 30% of Finland’s energy consumption.
