Finalists of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in artificial intelligence were awarded in the capital

Moscow hosted an awards ceremony for schoolchildren from the capital who were finalists of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in artificial intelligence. Eduard Altshuler, a 11th grade student of the Intellect School, became the winner of the competition, gaining the second sum of points. Eleventh-graders from school No. 548 “Tsaritsyno” and the Center for Pedagogical Excellence Andrey Teplov and Georgy Gromov were awarded diplomas of the third degree.

The AI ​​Olympiad was held from July to November. More than 13 thousand schoolchildren of 8-11 grades took part in the first, qualifying stage. The guys solved algorithmic problems, processed big data, and also looked for non-standard answers to non-standard questions. After the qualifying and main stages, 50 participants reached the final of the Olympiad, who were tasked with developing a recommender system for machine learning and conducting a multi-class classification of texts and images.

As Eduard Altshuler said after the Olympiad, in his opinion, the field of artificial intelligence is very promising in the modern world. Therefore, you need to constantly improve skills in this area. And the finalist of the competition Andrei Teplov noted that it is difficult to participate in the Olympiad without knowledge of mathematics and computer science.

— The tasks were difficult: we were presented with real cases that employees in this field are working with. The decision was given only six hours, which complicated the situation a little, because it was necessary to get together and quickly complete the tasks, – said a graduate of school No. 548 “Tsaritsyno”.

The All-Russian Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence has been held since 2021. Its task is to identify and support gifted students who are seriously passionate about programming and machine learning.
