Figure skaters Ivan Bukin and Alexandra Stepanova took first place in rhythm dance in pairs figure skating at the sixth stage of the Russian Grand Prix. The competitions take place in Moscow.
The skaters received 87.7 points for the rental. In second place were Elizaveta Shanaeva and Pavel Drozd (78.97), third were Sofia Tyutyunina and Matvey Grachev (71.11), reports TASS. The free dance competition will take place on Sunday.
A pair of skaters returned to the ice after a pause in their careers caused by the exacerbation of Alexandra Stepanova’s back injury. The skaters took silver twice at the European Championships – in 2019 and 2022. Before this, they became bronze medalists of the European Championship three times – in 2015, 2018 and 2020.
On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union suspended Russian and Belarusian speed skaters from participation in international competitions. The decision was made due to the situation in Ukraine.
