Forward of HC “Salavat Yulaev” Rodion Amirov, who was undergoing treatment for cancer, said that they wanted to take him to the army when he returned from Germany after the procedures.
In February, the NHL club Toronto Maple Leafs, which selected Amirov in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 2020, announced that the striker had been diagnosed with a brain tumor.
The 20-year-old Russian, rented by the Ufa club, was treated in Germany. In April, after a course of chemotherapy, he returned to Ufa. In July, Salavat Yulaev extended Amirov’s lease for another season.
“They came to my house, handed me a summons and said, ‘They’ll pick you up in three days,’” said Amirov, quoted by Sport-Express. In the military registration and enlistment office, he filled out the documents, after which the hockey player was “written off”.
Now he works on an individual program and continues to take a course of vitamins. According to the player himself, his return is possible in November-December.
