Richard, Bruni and dozens of cultural figures stood up for Depardieu, accused of harassment

As the Figaro newspaper reports, fifty cultural figures have signed a collective letter in defense of actor Gerard Depardieu, who is accused of sexual harassment.

The document was signed by such stars as actors Pierre Richard, Nathalie Baye, Benoit Pulvoord, Charlotte Rampling, director and screenwriter Nadine Trintignant and many others.

In their appeal, they called for Depardieu not to be banned from playing.

“We are artists, writers and film producers… We let justice do its work. But Gérard Depardieu is perhaps the greatest of actors…. We can no longer remain silent in the face of the lynching that has befallen him, the torrent of hatred pouring into regarding his personality, contrary to the presumption of innocence,” the appeal says.
