The International Football Federation (FIFA) has published report following the results of the winter transfer window. According to a FIFA press release, men’s clubs spent $1.46 billion on player transfers, while women’s clubs spent a record $2.1 million. In total, 5,073 transfer transactions took place in men’s and women’s football – this is a new record.

A FIFA press release noted that the total value of transfer transactions in men’s football almost broke the record set in January 2023 – $1.57 billion. In total, 4,716 transfers were made in men’s football, which is 0.6% more than with last year. Total transfer spend in women’s football has increased by 165.5% compared to January 2023. However, the number of completed transactions increased only by 0.3%.

According to the federation, French clubs spent the most on the transfer – $291.9 million, which is almost twice as much as last January. Transfer costs at English clubs have fallen by almost 80% compared to the previous January window. At the same time, in 2024 they took second place in terms of costs ($184 million) after France. French clubs spent $898.6 million in 2023.
