FIFA postpones World Cup opening match by one day

The press service of the International Football Federation released a statement announcing the postponement of the opening match of the 2022 World Cup.
Recall that it was originally planned that the match will take place on November 21, 2022 in Qatar and will kick off the World Cup.
“The Bureau of the FIFA Council has unanimously decided to postpone the match from November 21 to November 20,” the FIFA press service said.
It is specified that the meeting will begin at 19:00 local time at the Al-Bayt stadium in Al-Khaur.
“The decision to postpone is due to the continuity of the tradition to mark the beginning of the World Cup with the opening ceremony and the first match with the hosts of the tournament or the current champions,” FIFA explained its decision.
It is also noted that all ticket holders will be notified by email, their tickets remain valid regardless of the new date.
