The International Football Federation (FIFA) has opened a disciplinary investigation against Uruguayan internationals José María Jiménez, Diego Godin, Fernando Muslera and Edinson Cavani after the players angrily attacked the referee after losing to Ghana against the referee after winning their last group stage match December 2nd.
Uruguay beat Ghana 2-0. But the Uruguayan football players were outraged that the German referee Daniel Siebert did not award a penalty to their rivals. Because one more, third goal would allow Uruguay to reach the 1/8 finals of the World Cup instead of South Korea.
After the final whistle, players on the bench attacked the referee, who decided not to award penalties for tackles against Darwin Nunez in the first half and Cavani in the last minutes of the match. After that, Luis Suarez stated that FIFA was “against Uruguay”.
FIFA has also filed a case against the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) in connection with possible violations of the rules of fair play (fair play).
“Separate legal proceedings have been opened against Uruguayan players Jimenez, Cavani, Muslera and Godin,” FIFA said in a statement.
The AUF has 10 days to respond to FIFA, AUF Vice President Gaston Tildy told the Uruguayan newspaper Ovacion.
