FIFA obliged footballer Norman to pay Rostov €2.9 million – Kommersant

The International Football Federation (FIFA) has ordered Norwegian football player Matthias Normann to pay the Russian club Rostov €2.9 million. The Norwegian publication writes about this Nettavisen with reference to the FIFA document.
In November, the FIFA tribunal concluded that the football player had groundlessly terminated his contract with Rostov early. Matthias Normann has played for the club since 2019, but in August 2023 he sent letters of contract termination to the Rostov and Dynamo clubs due to a drone attack on a building in the Moscow City quarter in which he lived.
Nettavisen writes that not all judges supported the decision to pay €2.9 million. Some of them sided with Matthias Normann. The decision was made on November 15, but its details were not disclosed.
According to the publication, the footballer justified the early termination of the contract by security considerations and the reluctance of the Rostov club to enter into a dialogue on this issue. If Norman does not pay compensation, he will be banned from participating in any football competitions.
