Federation Council approves fines for accomplices of foreign agents – Kommersant

Russian senators approved new laws concerning foreign agents. Among other things, fines are set for accomplices of foreign agents in the amount of up to 300 thousand rubles.

What innovations provide laws:

• the Ministry of Justice is assigned the powers “to exercise state control over compliance with the legislation on foreign agents”;
• public authorities, organizations, officials and individuals are obliged to “take into account the restrictions associated with the status of a foreign agent”; their actions or omissions must not contribute to the violation by the foreign agent of the law on foreign agents;
• a ban is introduced on the receipt by foreign agents of state financial and property support, including in the implementation of creative activities;
• the possibility of conducting scheduled and unscheduled inspections of foreign agents is established;
• a fine of up to 300 thousand rubles is introduced. for failure to comply with the instructions or warnings of the Ministry of Justice under the laws on foreign agents.

Administrative responsibility for accomplices of foreign agents involves a fine of 30-50 thousand rubles. for individuals, 70–100 thousand rubles. or disqualification for officials and 200-300 thousand rubles. for organizations.
