Federal Penitentiary Service disowned the strange store “Sit-eat”

Rebranding turned out to be an initiative of businessmen

The site where you can order food for prisoners was renamed from “Fsinmagazin” to “Sit-Eat”. What is black humor? – asked some bloggers. “Such names are unacceptable in principle for such enterprises,” others wrote even more categorically. At the same time, the Federal Penitentiary Service disowned the portal and issued a whole list of structures that have the abbreviation “FSIN” in their names, but have nothing to do with the state structure of punishment.

The information that the online store that supplies products to the inhabitants of places not so remote has been renamed appeared on Monday, January 16. The name “Sit-Eat” has become perhaps the most heatedly discussed news not related to the NWO. Among those who criticized, there were even individual lawyers. The message of critics is simple: the name sounds mocking, especially considering that the online store belongs to a state-owned unitary enterprise. But the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service immediately hastened to refute the connection of the department with firms selling products to prisoners and convicts.

A whole section has appeared on the official website of the Federal Penitentiary Service, where a complete list of organizations is posted that has the abbreviation “FSIN” in their names (both with capital letters and with small letters). The list includes 33 positions, including the portals “FSIN-letter” known to all relatives of detainees (e-mails in the colony and pre-trial detention center), “FSIN. Date” (registration in the electronic queue for a date) and “FSIN Atlas” (a guide to all prison institutions in the country). More than a dozen enterprises included in the list are engaged in the sale of goods behind bars. And then a new question arose – is it really that providing the prisoners with provisions and essentials for money is at the mercy of purely commercial firms?

– That’s right, – explains our source in the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. – In total now there are only 4 FSUEs. One of them is the most famous Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Kaluga”. But now there have been transformations, and services are provided by a joint-stock company.

In general, all other enterprises are various LLCs. Each of them concludes an agreement with a specific colony or pre-trial detention center. But this does not mean that it works uncontrollably. The entire range of goods and services is coordinated. The supplier is responsible for quality and safety. However, the Federal Penitentiary Service does not interfere with its activities regarding the operation of the site or the name. By the way, what’s wrong with the last one?

As it turned out, there is even a free restaurant with exactly the same name “Sit down and eat.” He works in the Urals, which has been considered a prison region since Soviet times. So the authors of the rebranding, at least, cannot claim originality.

Human rights activists (including the author of these lines) did not see anything offensive in the title. But the prices of goods sold behind bars could be considered as such. The cost of products in a variety of online stores (remember, there are more than ten of them) is overpriced for many positions. This, apparently, will be the subject of a separate conversation between the Federal Penitentiary Service and suppliers.
