Deputy Krasov: the number of conscripts this spring may increase

During the spring conscription in 2024, the number of conscripts may increase slightly, said First Deputy Chairman of the Duma Defense Committee Andrei Krasov. The parliamentarian connected this with the emergence of two new military districts in the Russian Federation – Moscow and Leningrad.

“Accordingly, new associations, formations and units will be formed. The number of conscripts will probably increase by a small amount,” the deputy shared his point of view.

At the same time, the deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense found it difficult to name the exact number of those subject to conscription. This should be determined by the Russian Ministry of Defense, Krasov informed. In addition, according to him, during the spring draft, a pilot project for sending summonses electronically will be launched. At the same time, the delivery system will be of a hybrid nature – conscripts will be sent summonses both in paper form with a personal signature, and online, as well as by registered mail. To achieve this, the legislative framework related to conscription is being improved, Krasov concluded.

Earlier, the chairman of the Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, said that those called up for military service would not be sent to the zone of a special military operation (SVO).
