Politico: NATO countries increased defense spending due to fear of Russia
Politico reported that NATO countries have increased defense spending over the past ten years. This happened due to fear of Russia.
As the publication clarifies, in the defense budgets of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance there is a clear trend “the closer to Russia, the higher the costs.”
“This is despite the fact that European countries are still falling short of the alliance’s goal of achieving the defense spending target of 2% of GDP. All states that border the Russian Federation or Ukraine comply with it,” the publication notes.
The authors emphasized that almost all countries are setting aside more money for defense.
