Football club “Sochi” has officially announced the appointment of Kurban Berdyev to the post of head coach. The 70-year-old specialist will begin his duties from the new year, according to a statement on the club’s website.
Since June 2022, the specialist has been coaching the Iranian Traktor, being also the technical director of the club.
In Russia, Berdyev twice led the Kazan “Rubin” to the championship (2008, 2009), the club under his leadership won the Cup and Super Cup of Russia. In the 2015/2016 season, the coach led Rostov to the vice-championship in the national championship.
In 2021, the Kazakh “Kairat” under the leadership of Berdyev won the bronze of the national championship and the Cup of Kazakhstan.
RPL games will resume on March 5. The first rival of Sochi after the break will be CSKA Moscow.
