Natural gas prices for all categories of consumers in Russia are planned to be indexed by 8% from July 2024, follows from the draft regulatory legal acts of draft orders of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) published on the federal portal
In addition, it is proposed to carry out another price increase from July 1, 2025 – also by 8%.
The FAS explained that the new wholesale gas prices will come into effect on July 1, 2024, noting that the change will be planned and the first in a year and a half.
“The funds received will be directed to the social gasification of the regions and the construction of new gas pipelines for consumers. This will support the implementation of repair and investment programs for the reliable supply of energy resources to consumers, which in turn will allow the provision of quality services to the population,” notes service in the comments to Interfax.
The Ministry of Energy stressed that the indexation of tariffs will help maintain a reliable supply of gas to the end consumer through the implementation of investment programs of companies.
The last time wholesale gas prices were indexed from December 1, 2022 by 8.5%. At the same time, it was reported that the next increase in tariffs could take place in July 2024. According to the forecast of the socio-economic development of the Russian Federation at that time, gas prices were supposed to increase by 7%.
