The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia receives complaints from subscribers about the introduction by telecom operators of a fee for distributing the Internet from phones. About it informs TASS with reference to the press service of the department.

In this regard, the FAS sent requests to operators to establish all the circumstances and details of the innovation. Now the department is analyzing the information received, in case of violations, measures will be taken.

Internet distribution fees are chargedBeeline“, MTSTele2 and “Megaphone“. We are talking about the function of distributing the Internet from a smartphone to other devices (the so-called modem mode, traffic can be transmitted via WiFi, USB and Bluetooth). As the press service of Beeline explained to TASS, this function has been paid since 2019. They noted that they did not receive mass complaints from customers in this regard.

MTS introduced paid distribution of the Internet in the spring of 2023, Vedomosti wrote. The changes concerned subscribers who have connected packages with unlimited internet. Then a package for distributing 50 GB cost 49 rubles. However, since then, paid distribution of the Internet has spread to other tariffs. The correspondent of Vedomosti, who is a client of MTS, was convinced of this. Now the operator provides both the opportunity to share the Internet daily for a fee, and to connect the distribution service of 100 GB per month.
