Agency Reuters reported that representatives of the Australian Tennis Federation forbade fans to bring Belarusian and Russian flags to the stands of the Australian Open.
The sports federation came to this decision after numerous complaints from Ukrainian spectators. In particular, Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia Vasily Miroshnichenko complained about this.
The organizing committee of the competition noted that initially fans from Belarus and Russia could bring flags to the games, but they were forbidden to wave them.
“From today, the Belarusian and Russian flags will be completely banned at the Australian Open,” the organizers of the competition added.
