85-year-old Soviet circus performer Andrei Nikolaev was urgently hospitalized in Moscow, reports telegram channel Mash.

Nikolaev, known in the image of the clown Andryusha, suffers from an acute stage of obstructive jaundice, but he did not want to be treated.

Upon admission, the artist was also diagnosed with coronavirus. Now Nikolaev is under the close supervision of doctors. He needs surgery, if the operation is not done, then the artist’s liver may fail. However, he categorically disagrees with the operation.

Nikolaev is the only owner of the main circus prize “Grock’s Golden Mask” in the USSR. He also taught at GITIS, was the mentor of Alla Pugacheva, Alexander Buinov and many other artists.
