Families of children injured due to hostilities will be paid 100 thousand rubles

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decree on measures to support families whose children have suffered as a result of Ukraine’s actions. From January 1, such families living in new regions of Russia, as well as regions neighboring the North-Eastern Military District zone, will receive one-time payments in the amount of 100 thousand rubles.

The decree “On measures of social support for families with children affected by the aggression of Ukraine” came into force from the date of signing – December 21. The decision will affect the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, as well as regions of the Russian Federation “adjacent to the area where the special military operation is taking place.”

Money is paid for injuries (wound, trauma or concussion) received after February 18, 2022. The funds are transferred to one of the parents or the victim himself, if at the time of payment he is 18 years old.

Those who are citizens of Russia and permanently reside in the country can apply for the payment. The payment is assigned and carried out by the Pension and Social Insurance Fund upon documentary evidence of injury. Funds are not taken into account when determining eligibility for other support measures. The government must provide funding for the payment and approve the procedure for its provision.

The President also recommended that the regions, “based on their financial situation,” send victims every year to organizations for the recreation of children and their health, or to sanatorium-resort organizations if there are medical indications. Subjects were also advised to pay for travel to these locations and “establish other additional social support measures.”
