Extremely high temperatures expected in ten regions of Russia in the coming days

According to the forecasts of the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand, in the coming days, the Krasnodar Territory, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Rostov Regions and Stavropol Territory expect hot temperatures of up to plus 40-43 degrees, and in the Belgorod, Kursk, Oryol, Ryazan and Tambov regions the temperature will rise to plus 37 degrees. Vilfand noted that extremely high temperatures are expected in the south of the European part of Russia in the coming days. In the Krasnodar Territory, a forecast of 39-40 degrees is expected, and in the Rostov, Astrakhan, Volgograd regions and Stavropol, the temperature can reach 40-42 degrees. In Kalmykia, the temperature can rise to 43 degrees. In the southern part of the Central Federal District, including the Belgorod, Tambov, Kursk, Orel and Ryazan regions, very high temperatures are also expected until Tuesday, up to 36-37 degrees.
These regions are also expected to have a high ultraviolet index in the coming days. Vilfand recommends avoiding sun exposure during the midday hours, wearing sunglasses, long sleeves and hats.
The ultraviolet index standard was developed by the World Health Organization, the United Nations Environment Program and the World Meteorological Organization. It indicates potential negative health effects. The ultraviolet index scale ranges from 1 to 12 units.
With index values from three to seven units, it is recommended to be in the shade, wear long-sleeved clothing, a hat and use sunscreen. At values of eight or higher, it is recommended to avoid being outdoors during the midday hours and prefer indoors.
