Experts told how Russians will be fined for dangerous driving

The bill can be passed under the “private” surveillance cameras

Dangerous driving was prohibited back in 2016 by paragraph 2.7 of the Rules of the Road – the same one that prohibits driving while intoxicated, tired, under the influence of a number of drugs. At the same time, there were no clear penalties for dangerous driving in the traffic rules. With a new bill, they want to “register” them in the Code of Administrative Offenses.

The authors of the bill point to the significant danger posed by aggressive drivers to other road users – according to their data, about 80% of accidents are somehow related to such behavior while driving. We add that in a number of countries dangerous driving is punished even more seriously than it is proposed to do in Russia: for example, in the UK this violation is fined in the amount of approximately 5,000 pounds sterling, or in especially serious cases punishable by two years in prison.

The teacher of one of the capital’s driving schools, Elena Firstova, explained to MK that, in general, the ban on dangerous driving is directed against very specific violations of driving etiquette and traffic safety that really threaten neighbors downstream. “It is forbidden to “cut off” other cars (this is “failure to comply with the requirement to give way to a vehicle that has the right of way during rebuilding”), “play checkers” (the so-called “rebuilding in heavy traffic when all lanes are occupied, except when turning left or right, turning around, stopping or avoiding an obstacle”), “hang on the tail” (“failure to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle moving in front”) and “board” (“failure to maintain lateral interval”),” she noted.

In addition, unequivocally dangerous driving is what is called “to teach” in the slang of motorists – this is the very “sharp braking if such braking is not required to prevent a traffic accident,” says the MK interlocutor. Finally, probably, one of the most dangerous actions in this series is the “obstruction of overtaking” prohibited by the same paragraph of the SDA – according to the teacher, it would even be worth removing the clarification about endangering other road users from the wording.

Thus, the wording of the law is not too vague – everything that is indicated in it, according to Firstova, is really dangerous elements of behavior on the road. Another question is how the future article of the Code of Administrative Offenses will be administered. Most likely, the MK source in the traffic police of the Moscow Region suggested that the main means of fixing dangerous driving would be mobile video recording cameras – those that are in moving cars of covert patrols. Moreover, such vehicles also operate in private structures – like stationary video recording cameras, concessions for their installation and maintenance are already in place in many regions.
