Experts reported on the guaranteed re-election of Sobyanin in the elections in 2023

According to the analytical note of the Civil Society Development Fund “On regional and local elections in 2023”, the current mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, is guaranteed to be re-elected for a new term in 2023.
The document notes that Sobyanin and the heads of 10 other regions will be re-elected in “referendum” elections to be held in 11 regions, including Moscow, Amur, Voronezh, Kemerovo, Magadan, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Pskov, Samara and Tyumen regions.
According to experts, the current series of elections is different from last year. In 2022, heads of regions were re-elected for new terms in six out of 14 regions, while in 2023 heads of regions are already re-elected in 16 out of 20 regions. In addition, for the first time, heads who graduated from the “school of governors” will be re-elected, their number is 10.
According to RIA Novosti, analysts note a decrease in the level and degree of mutual criticism between the main participants in the electoral process, as well as a decrease in the effectiveness of traditional strategies of opposition parties.
In addition, government officials have a significant electoral advantage, and special operations veterans actively participate in election campaigns at various levels.
